I am joining Bunting, Books and Bainbridge for a linky party!

Oh it is talking about the worst things you have found in a desk!
When I was student teaching in third grade I had a student that loved CHEESE. I mean wrote about cheese, signed his name...Andrew loves cheese - it was HILARIOUS! Well, I was there until Christmas. One of the first days of school, he offered me cheese. I don't remember what I said, but the time passed. When I was leaving in December, I was cleaning out my filing crate and taking out things I knew I would use, and tossing things that needed to go - probably the only time I threw things away! hahah shhhhh. Anyway, as I was cleaning guess what I found? A nasty open cheese stick. I had been asking my coteacher what stunk for MONTHS!!!! OMG this child left me the cheese he asked if I wanted and it must have fallen into the bin. YUK YUK YUK> so it wasnt my desk, but it was the desk I had at the time! :)

Holiday's Around the World - Freebie - Passport and Journal Pages

Hi
I have been busy working while I am recovering from my back surgery.

I think I am going to try working on my own clip art for a few projects. I have an ipad, but I think I would draw my things better with paper and pencil and scan them in.

Anyway,

I created this 20 page journal, passport and passport application for my first graders to use while I am out on medical leave.

They went to each classroom and learned about the different Christmas traditions. They each had a "stamp" that they put into their foldable passport. The children also used a suitcase to keep all of their projects in.

I hope you can use this in addition to your Holiday plans.

Happy Freebie!

As a human, teacher, and mother I am so incredibly saddened by the events of yesterday. I sat powerless and speechless watching the events unfold. I am grief stricken for all of the families that lost loved ones. These were just babies, not yet given a chance to see where their creativity and energy would take them. There are no words to express what loss I feel, so I won't try to imagine how those teachers, students, parents, family and friends feel in CT. Their worlds will be changed forever.  I am honored to be a part of a profession that employs educators and heros such as Kaitlin Roig. She is a true picture of bravery. Her heroic actions came at what seemed like second nature. My condolences and deepest sympathie are with them all. I pray for them all to have the strength to manage their pain and heartache.

Nancy Clancy - Fancy Nancy Super Sleuth Freebie Reading Response Sheet

Hi Friends!
My surgery went well. I have upgraded from a cane with sparkles to a walker! ha - However I am standing up straight so that is a plus.

I wanted to share an activity my kids did with the first chapter book in Fancy Nancy's life.
Our librarian had just gotten a nice new crispy copy at the beginning of the year and asked me and my first grade friends if we would like to read it, and give a report about the book.

O.M.G these turned out ADORABLY!
I had to make a response sheet for them. They kiddos got to use Nancy's fancy words, and we did a word of the day with it, so the kiddos used the words thief, heist, robber, sleuth in everyday translation. It was such a hit!

Her favorite part was when Jojo wore the flippers around the house! haha

This little love used the word "suspect" in her writing saying her favorite part was when the suspect was caught with the marble. Adorable. She is one of my strugglers - but did so well!
The librarian surprised my kiddos by putting their responses on the bulletin board at the entrance of the library for everyone to see! I would have put boa's and such around it with a fancy heading, but I don't think she expected us to do such a fantastic job! :)

You can pick up your FREE copy of the response sheet at my TPT Store

Until next time,

What Did They Say Wednesday

Hi Yall!
Surgery went well, but I am in a crazy amount of pain. They say I will be walking tonight! It is 11pm, we will see... sheesh.

I am joining up on the What did they say linky party!
I am in my room recovering from surgery, and I was thinking about what my kids have all said, and one needs a picture attached, so I will do that one next week, but this one was HILARIOUS!

Mind you, I teach first grade so to hear this in first grade, AND from a girl, I almost peed my pants.

So I have a bathroom in my classroom. I have the kids trained that they take a wipe, and they wipe the seat, lift the seat, and wipe that (boys and girls!) and then wipe the floor. No matter if they sprinkle or not. My bathroom is always gleaming clean. Everyone comes to use my bathroom because they know it is clean!

So anyway, I had  little boy go in and apparently had to go numero dos. He was in there quite some time, and a little peanut of a girl went in right after.

She came immediately out, and tapped him on the shoulder while tapping her foot and shouted
"Hey Where is your courtesy flush man?!"

My mouth dropped over and I almost spit out my drink I laughed so stinking hard!!

She is too much!

Be sure to Link up! :)

Old Lady Swag - Font and Surgery

Well, I am feeling pretty old lately, so I thought it would be fitting to make the font Old Lady Swag. I certainly do have the old lady swag - that is for sure! I am having back surgery tomorrow. A discectomy to be technical. I am in a ridiculous amount of pain! As I sit here counting down the minutes until I can take my next dose of medicine, I wonder why I waited so long to have the surgery!? Because I just couldn't bring myself to leave my kiddos! Especially before the holiday! I am so sad, but I am even more sad that I haven't been able to lift or get on the floor with my kid in at least two months! It is just terrible!

My kiddos decorated it with sticky rhinestones, because let's face it, if I have to rock a cane at 32 years old, then it needs to be blinged out! My kids did the colorful ones!! Also, my first experience in a hover wheel motorized scooter at Costco and at Target, were interesting!!! The target one was the most embarrassing because it has the back up beep. You know what I am talking about, as you hit reverse it sounds like a massive 18 wheeler backing up. It is by far the most embarrassing thing I have ever gone through in my life. Bad enough I have to be on this thing, but then it beeps when I back up! My gosh! I was ten kinds of mortified!

So, the first person to comment will get my old lady swag font for free!

Leave me some love! I hope to make "Back in the Game" font after surgery! hahah

Making Connections in First Grade

Do you get a TON of scholastic book order forms that you don't use? Well, I get a TON. I wanted to do something useful with them, so I created this making connections activity to go along with the thousands of orders that I get each year.

I am linking up with Freebies on the First. Click the picture below to go! All you do is link up your freebie that must always stay free and never be a paid product! I wanted to share with you what I am linking up today!

You can click HERE to get it on my Google Docs
My kiddos and I have spent an entire month making connections! We have been doing some super fun stuff with making connections, but this was by far one of the most hands on, and super awesome projects!

Do you have a TON of scholastic order forms laying around? I sure did and I thought, how on earth could I use them for making connections?

I decided to have the kids cut them out and glue them on paper and write their connections, both text to self and text to text! They LOVED looking through the magazines and finding a book they had a connection to. Many of the boys FINALLY got making connections because there are lego books of course!

Anyway here is the freebie, you can just click on my teachers pay teachers link here
or you can click on the picture to go to my free tpt and download the freebie.
Be sure to go over and join the party!

Please be a follower, and also leave a comment!
