Burlap Wreath

I finally wanted to try using burlap! What a fun material to work with! It is so messy, but it was worth it! This is one of my favorites!

Here are some supplies you will need.
2 yards of burlap.
18 inch wreath form
floral wire (I used silver)
wire cutters
ribbon and letter of choice
Sheet or towel to work on - the burlap is MESSY!

This is an 18 inch wreath
First - start by folding your burlap length wise. I cut mine into four pieces (I only used 3) Once you have the four pieces cut cut them into strips. Mine were about 27 inches long and about and about 12 inches wide.  so I ended up with 10 strips of burlap. There are 9 sections on the wreath and I used about 8 of them. It will make more sense once we get started.

Next, I would cut all the wire. I didn't and it was a pain in the neck stopping. I ended up using 18 six inch wires. Then you will need a bunch of 3 inch ones for the end to get the puffy look. I think I used about 10. I'll explain later what you need them for.
You will start with the innermost circle. I tucked in my burlap under and secured it with wire.

Start making poofs. I pulled out about 8 inches of material and then I secured it to the "section" on the wreath. That way once you secure it, it won't move. It stays put because it is tied to that piece.

This is what it looks like with the inner circle done. It looks like crap - I know - Just keep going.

I started the second outer most ring. I tucked my first piece down behind a bubble. Make sure you don't tuck where the opening is or it will look bad. I had to do this a few times!

I kept making bubbles all the way around and securing them. Here is my wreath finished. I hated how you could see the rings and the holes in between. So I thought how on earth can I fix this?! This is where my 20 mini wires came into play. Do you see how each bunch has 4 poofs? There are two poofs from top and 2 from the bottom????

Take your wire and pull the top poofs together and wire them together using the twist tie method. You will still have wire left so take your wire that is hanging out and attach it to one of the bottom poofs. Then twist once and then use the tiny bit left and attach it to the last bottom poof.  Do this all the way around.

Do you see how doing that makes them look grouped together? You can't even see those wires because they are so small!

I added my purple bow, although I don't like it much - I think it is too bold!

I also added this H - but I am in the process of using antique gold/brown paint to paint this to match better to the burlap.
What do you think???? I love it!
