Classroom DIY projects

I have had such a busy week! I am full of lots of easy to duplicate crafts!!!!!
I hope that you find them useful in your classroom!
I am so excited to be linking up with Tara for another Monday Made It. I find myself unable to sleep waiting to see what number poster I will be for it. Obsessed much?! lol I have been super busy, and hope you make it to the end of all of my madness today!
Well my first project was this bad boy!
I got this gumball machine for free. It is supposed to light up, but I don't have the cord. I bet I can find one and it would be awesome, but see the following pictures... I messed up!

I spray painted it all yellow with plastic spray paint. This paint sucked on this because it ran everywhere and did not look good. I tried to use acetone to remove the yellow, oh my word, it just made it worse. Now the clear parts were all foggy!

The yellow paint splattered and made a mess, so I wrapped it in purple duct tape and then added some ribbon to make it look fun!
This will be my reward system for those that make it to the top of my clip chart. I have gumballs and skittles inside now. Each color is a different reward. I am finishing up the reward coupons to go with it. They will be in my store at the end of the week!

Made It Number 2
Birthday Flower Pot
Two Friends in First had a great idea, and I wanted to put my own twist on it.
I bought a terracotta pot from Joann on clearance for .35
I spray painted it with cheap purple Big Lots spray paint
Then, I put a chevron border around it and put in a green filler inside. I put lollipops into the chevron straws.

I decided I needed a bow for the front. I cut my pieces, and the two smaller had to have the ends cut into triangles.

Then I connected the long piece like this.

Then I pushed them together.

I used a twisty tie from bread to put it together.

That was my plain bow before the tails were on.

I hot glued on the purple to hide the twisty tie.

Here are the bottom pieces, I pushed them together and put glue to hold them.

Then, I glued them underneath

I whipped up these awesome happy birthday tags to put on as well.

Tada!

Made It Number 3

Remember last week that I had a lamp redo?
Here is the other lamp shade.

I painted it, and as you can see, you can faintly see the ladybug through it.
The paint is Martha Stewart silver. You can get a small tester set for $6 and it has painted so much this summer!

Nothin an extra coat of paint won't fix.

Then, I took my washi tape and modge podge (*yes, its in my glue bottle)

I put that over the washi tape and then added transparent purple ribbon on top and e6000 on top. The transparent ribbon was a buck at Michaels.

I think it looks great  - IMHO!

Here are my three projects for the week that were crafty!

Made It Number 4
Homemade Ice Packs!!
I got the sponges at Michaels for $2 for 8 of them.

I used my vacuum sealer, 8 sponges, rubbing alcohol and water

first, I sealed my bags, but you can use ziploc bags

put your sponge inside
Add 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol.
Add 1/4 cup of water

Let it soak up, turning the sponge to get all the liquid into the sponge. I had a bit left over in the bottom and left it there. The rubbing alcohol will keep the sponges from freezing.

Seal your bag or use two ziploc bags for each.

There you have it ice packs for your littles

Made It Number 5
This isn't really a made it , rather than clean it!
I use these for my coin rewards and spelling sort words. I write the kids numbers on the tops and bottoms. They had crayon, glue, marker etc all over! I was going to do labels, but after seeing how gross they got this year, I am happy I didn't waste the time! I didn't feel like scrubbing all of these, so I did what any normal teacher would do...
I threw them into the washer with a huge beach towel and a packet of oxy clean.
They came out FANTASTICALLY clean!!!!!
I didn't take an after, but trust me, all I had to do was dry them, and it was clean as can be!!!

Made It Number 6

Possibly my favorite! Under $5 craft
I got the frames from Michaels. They were on clearance. The large was 1.99, and the others were .99 plus our 15% off!
I got these for $5

I used old Martha Stewart glitter purple for the 11x14 frame

I used cheap acrylic purple for one 5x7

Then I painted one 5x7 yellow

The last I painted silver

Together, they look amazing!
I gave away 5 of these sweet guys on INstagram this week to use for your own.

MY 8th separate commenter (my favorite number) and my
24TH separate commenter (24 days until school starts) will get a set for free!!

My sweet husband built my new mailbox system for me! It is from really good stuff.
If you google 50$ off $200, you will feel like you are getting $50 in free stuff!!!

I am also using these avery label, chevron binder clips to put as name tags for my mailboxes.
I am going to attach the avery label template if I get requests. Just let me know.
I believe I used the 31 MM clips.

Other tip:
I LOVE this idea. We can't have candles in our room, but lamps are ok. So I got this lamp! Instead of using the $2.50 scentsy squares, I am using Gain Fireworks! OMG it smells like laundry in my classroom. It is wonderful!!!

I also made this to take first day of school pictures. Look at my sweet little model! I love her!

Last, but not least, here was a first day picture of my room as I got into it.

Here is a pretty recent shot of that same corner. It has changed since this picture, but I will do a full reveal the week before school starts!!!

Please be sure to leave me some love!
I already have two Monday Made Its ready for next week, but I just couldn't put any more on this post because I didn't think you guys would keep reading!!

I am done with my book clubs on Friday, and I can't wait to spend the last twenty days of summer break with my sweet little boy!!!

Also, please be sure to look at my past Monday Made It posts

    1. Oh the ice packs worked wonders last year, but I was so sick of the wet dripping ice packs that they ended up squeezing liquid through. I hope this does the trick! :) I have a 3 hour napping 3 year old! :)
